Description
OLYMPUS CV-150 Video Endoscopy
An endoscopy machine is a medical system featuring a thin, flexible tube (endoscope) with a camera and light, used to view inside the body for diagnosis or treatment, transmitting live video to a monitor, allowing doctors to see organs like the esophagus, stomach, or colon and perform biopsies or remove polyps through channels in the scope. The main components include the scope, a light source, and a video processor that controls functions like air/CO2 inflation and image display, enabling minimally invasive inspection.
Key Components & Function:
Endoscope (The “Scope”):
A long, flexible tube with a tiny camera and light at the tip, inserted through natural openings (mouth, anus) or small incisions.
Light Source:
Illuminates the internal body cavity, often with adjustable brightness.
Video Processor:
Connects to the scope, processes the video signal, and displays high-resolution images on a monitor.
Air/CO2 Insufflation:
Pumps air or carbon dioxide to gently inflate the organ for better visibility.
Instrument Channel:
Allows passage of small surgical tools for biopsies (tissue samples) or polyp removal.
How it Works:
Insertion: The doctor guides the endoscope into the body.
Visualization: The camera sends live video to the monitor, showing the internal lining.
Diagnosis/Treatment: The doctor identifies issues and uses tools passed through the scope to treat them (e.g., removing polyps, taking biopsies).
Removal: The scope is carefully removed.
Common Types (Named by Area):
Upper Endoscopy (EGD): Mouth to stomach/small intestine.
Colonoscopy: Through the rectum to the colon.
Bronchoscopy: Lungs/airways (through mouth/nose).
Laparoscopy: Abdomen/pelvis (through small incisions).
Description:
- Video signal output: Y/C, RGB, VBS composite, and XGA signal: simultaneous output is possible.
- White balance adjustment: By pressing the white balance switch on the front panel, automatic white balance can be performed. Color tone adjustment: R Control (±7steps), B Control (±7steps)
- Iris Mode Selection: Average normal observation, peak (when focusing on and/or observing a small bright area)
- Image Enhancement Setting: Fine patterns or edges in the endoscopic images can be enhanced electrically to increase the image sharpness, Either the structural enhancement or edge enhancement can be selected
The following Patient Data can be displayed on the video monitor using the keyboard:
